Tracy Kitchen Remodel: A Complete Transformation by kitchen & bath CRATE

A successful kitchen remodel does more than update finishes—it transforms how a space looks, feels, and functions day to day. This Tracy, CA kitchen remodel on Borges Court is a clear example of how thoughtful design and carefully selected materials can completely redefine an outdated kitchen. This project turned an aging kitchen into a polished, functional centerpiece of the home, designed to improve storage, workflow, and visual appeal.
Kitchen & bath CRATE approached this remodel with a focus on durability, efficiency, and timeless design. Every element—from cabinetry and countertops to tile, fixtures, and appliances—was selected to work cohesively while elevating the overall look of the space. The result is a kitchen that feels modern, intentional, and built for long-term use.
Cabinetry
The cabinetry played a major role in redefining the kitchen’s layout and appearance. In this Tracy kitchen remodel, all cabinet doors and drawer faces were replaced with Shaker-style Falton Custom Cabinets made from paint-grade solid maple, offering both strength and a smooth painted finish. The cabinets feature a ½ overlay frame style, giving the kitchen a clean, streamlined look without feeling overly modern.
To improve everyday functionality, several cabinet modifications were incorporated into the design. New pull-out drawers were installed below the cooktop and in the adjacent cabinet, improving accessibility and storage. A lazy Susan was added to the corner cabinet, maximizing previously hard-to-reach space. The existing island was fully removed and replaced with a newly designed island based on updated cabinet drawings, carefully planned to maintain the existing layout while improving flow. An upper cabinet in the hallway area was also removed to allow for a full tile wall and homeowner-supplied shelving, creating a more open and visually interesting transition.
Soft-close functionality was added using Blum Euro soft-close hinges, enhancing the overall user experience with smooth, quiet operation.

Cabinet Hardware
To complement the painted cabinetry, this Tracy kitchen remodel incorporated Amerock Versa hardware in a champagne bronze finish. Both doors and drawers feature the Amerock Versa 6 5/16" pull. The warm metallic tone adds contrast and depth to the cabinetry while maintaining a clean, understated profile that works seamlessly with the Shaker-style doors.
Countertops
The countertops bring a strong visual presence to the kitchen while remaining practical for daily use. This Tracy kitchen remodel features Bedrosians Calacatta Milan Revera countertops in a polished finish throughout the kitchen and island. The stone was fabricated at 2CM thickness with a mitered eased edge, creating a refined and cohesive look.
The new island serves as a central focal point, featuring waterfall edges that extend the stone down to the floor on both ends. A 14-inch cantilever was incorporated on the living room side of the island, supported by steel reinforcement. The island countertop measures 2.25 inches thick, while the perimeter countertops measure 1.75 inches, creating subtle variation while maintaining consistency across the space.

Tile & Flooring
Tile selections were carefully chosen to brighten the kitchen and create visual continuity. The backsplash uses Bedrosians Celine White Gloss tile, installed vertically in a straight-set pattern. Tile sizes include 2" x 6" and 2½" x 12", paired with Snow White grout at a 1/16-inch grout width. The glossy finish reflects light and pairs cleanly with the cabinetry and countertops without overwhelming the space.
For the flooring, Bedrosians Poetry Stone tile in Beige Matte was installed in a large 24" x 48" format, giving the kitchen a modern, expansive feel. The tile was laid parallel to the island and fireplace in a straight-set pattern, with TEC 903 Birch grout at a 1/8-inch width. Special care was taken during demolition to preserve the existing stacked stone at the fireplace, allowing the new tile to transition cleanly beneath it. The flooring was sealed to ensure durability and longevity.
Sink & Plumbing Fixtures
The kitchen sink and fixtures were selected for both performance and aesthetic consistency. This Tracy kitchen remodel includes a Blanco Diamond Super Single Bowl sink in Soft White with a 9-inch depth, providing ample space for everyday kitchen tasks.
Paired with the sink is a Moen Align High-Arc faucet in spot-resistant stainless, along with a matching Moen soap dispenser. A ½ HP InSinkErator Badger 5 compact garbage disposal was installed with an air switch positioned to the right of the sink, ensuring convenience without cluttering the countertop.

Appliances, Lighting, and Electrical
All major appliances were replaced as part of this Tracy kitchen remodel and supplied by the homeowner. The updated appliance lineup includes a KitchenAid 30” Combination Microwave Wall Oven with Air Fry Mode, a KitchenAid 30” 5-Burner Gas Cooktop, a Zephyr Hurricane Under-Cabinet Hood, a KitchenAid Counter-Depth French Door Platinum Interior Refrigerator, and a KitchenAid 360° Max Jets Third Rack Dishwasher. To accommodate the new appliance configuration, the existing microwave and oven opening was modified to allow for a micro-oven combination, ensuring a clean, built-in appearance.
In addition to the appliance upgrades, to enhance visibility and functionality, under-cabinet lighting was installed throughout the kitchen. The lighting features a Daylight Glow color temperature at 4000K, providing bright, neutral illumination ideal for food preparation. Electrical updates also included white Decora outlets and switches, maintaining a clean and cohesive look. Pendant lighting rough-ins were installed above the island, with fixtures supplied by the homeowner.
Paint Selections
Paint played a key role in tying the entire kitchen together. Cabinetry was finished using Sherwin-Williams SW 7045 Intellectual Gray and Sherwin-Williams SW 7048 Urbane Bronze, creating depth and contrast without overpowering the space. The walls were painted Edgecomb Gray HC-173 by Benjamin Moore, a soft neutral that complements both the cabinetry and stone finishes. Cabinet interiors were not painted, and the ceiling remained unchanged unless required due to wall modifications.
